Repair Crew: Stitch, Fix, Restart – REPper Hub in Italy

13/02/2026

On 26 November 2025, the European REPper project (Interreg Euro-Med) launched the “Repair Crew: Stitch, Fix, Restart” training initiative in the Bologna area, implemented by the Metropolitan City of Bologna in collaboration with CIOFS.

The initiative focused on strengthening practical skills in the repair sector to foster technical autonomy and a sustainable mindset.

What We Covered

The training sessions took place in person across the Bologna area. The program launched its first session on 26 November 2025, and concluded its overall 30-hour curriculum in December 2025.

The course was primarily addressed to trainers, teachers, and operators from various associations and educational institutions. The 66 participants served as “multipliers,” capable of disseminating the acquired repair knowledge within their own communities. The program was also open to interested citizens without requiring prior experience.

The training was structured as an integrated 30-hour pathway combining theoretical principles with hands-on practice. Key activities included:

  • Regenerative Sewing: 4 sessions dedicated to mending and renewing damaged garments.
  • Electronic Repair: 3 sessions on diagnosing and fixing small appliances and devices.
  • Bicycle and E-mobility Maintenance: 3 sessions on keeping bikes and electric scooters in top condition.
  • Dialogue and Solution Management: A cross-cutting session focused on building positive relationships with users and effective problem-solving.

What we achieved

The session successfully contributed to building a local repair culture. By providing technical competencies and exploring topics like the “right to repair” and “green jobs”, the program empowered participants to reduce waste and support the circular economy through the reuse of materials.

The large number of participants demonstrates the significant need and interest within the local community for repair practices.” highlights Alice Menegatti (MCBO).
