The REPper team meets the broader community of Innovative and Sustainable Economy projects!

02/07/2024

The first meeting of the Innovative Sustainable Economy Mission of Interreg EURO-MED Programme was the opportunity to identify synergies and to create new alliances!

Repper is one of the 14 thematic projects  funded by the Interreg Euro-Med program on the topic of innovative and sustainable economy.

On June 18th – 19th  2024, the  Innovative Sustainable Economy Mission (ISE) organized the first meeting gathering the 14 thematic projects funded by  Interreg Euro-Med programme for accelerating the transition to a circular and sustainable economy.

The Innovative Sustainable Economy Mission of the Interreg Euro-MED  works to boost a fair transition to a circular economy through two governance projects that develop innovative technical knowledge and ensure these new solutions are transferred into public policies: the Community4Innovation (C4I) and Dialogue4Innovation (D4I)

The C4I fosters the reuse of results and best practices of the community of projects, supports the transferring of successful initiatives and results and increases the coordination among the stakeholders who are committed to enhance the transition towards a more sustainable, circular and green economy in the Mediterranean Region and beyond.  The meeting in Marseille provided an opportunity to share REPPER’s main activities and identify projects with which to connect and create promising synergies, such as eWaster and VerdeInMed. Both projects aim at reducing waste in two specific industry sector – the electrical and electronic sector for eWaster, and the textile sector for VerdeInMed. Synergies among the three projects will especially concern behavioral changes tactics and vocational training activities.

The discussions also helped identify key priorities for the community to ensure a successful transition towards a greener economy. These include the need to focus more on behavior changes, the importance of involving citizens, and the necessity of finding innovative ways to engage policymakers more effectively.  REPper tackles these challenges through its activities, like the  REPper festival on October 18th -19th in Marseille (National and International Repair days) inviting citizens to get more familiar with repair practices, enabling policy makers to meet with stakeholders of the repair economy and allowing professionals from each REPper hub to network and share good practices!

REPPER will also address the behavioral dimension by identifying barriers in consumer practices and test some behavioral tactics to overcome these barriers.
